Iron pergolas made of tube steel and forged scrolls add a great personality to a year or garden. This is an example of a 4 foot wide by 1 foot deep and 7 foot tall pergola that highlights the walkway into the yard. The scrolls may also serve as a hook for hanging plants or solar lights.
This project had some unique challenges. The customer wanted to add some personality to the outside of their Tuscan Villa style home. We designed the Mediterranean balcony style railings for the windows. The challenge was how to secure the railing. The siding and window molding was stucco with foam backing, which would not hold lag bolts, and would cause a risk of moisture seeping into the siding causing dry rot to the wood sheeting. We designed trellis legs that were set in concrete footings, instead of bolting to the house.
The trellis legs allowed the homeowners to plant climbing plants and really dress up the outside in style.
This pergola was fabricated with 1 x 2 rectangular tubing and simple scrolls to give it a slight oriental personality. The pergola was placed over the entrance to the property.
